New York, NY: 25madison promotes Matt Berberian to Head of Studio, effective immediately. Berberian, who has served as the company’s VP of Design and Development since 2019, will continue to lend his creative edge to the active direction of 25madison’s incubation cohorts, and further develop its design, testing and process capabilities. New York, NY: 25madison, a New York-based venture studio, today announced the promotion of Justine Lee to Chief Operating Officer. Lee, who has served as the company’s General Counsel and Chief Impact Officer since 2019, will retain oversight of legal affairs and impact strategy while adding business and operating responsibilities.

New York, NY: 25madison, an NYC-based venture studio, announced today that Keith Cowing, the former VP of Product at Flatiron Health, has been named CEO of its latest incubation, which is expected to launch in early-2021. The company’s mission is to provide aging in place solutions so that families and individuals can live their greatest years in the homes they love.

Cowing previously served as VP of Product at Flatiron Health, where he helped drive the company to its $2B acquisition by Roche. Cowing is no stranger to startups. He is a Venture Partner at NextGen Venture Partners and was previously a Founder/CEO at Seamless Receipts, which was acquired by Sailthru. Cowing’s entrepreneurial background, coupled with his Product Management experience at Flatiron Health, Twitter, Linkedin, and as a lecturer at Cornell University, make him uniquely suited to lead this company in creating tailored aging in place solutions for individuals and their homes. …

We launched 25madison as a business builder. Today, that means helping our portfolio companies navigate an avalanche of unique challenges arising out of COVID-19, any one of which could be fatal for a fledgling startup.

We are a hands-on team of experienced CEOs and senior executives who work alongside our entrepreneurs as they scale important new businesses. Our model of long-term partnership and incubation applies in good times but is truly differentiating in bad times. We’ve been there as the CEOs and executives of startups during difficult economic times. We know how challenging it can be.

While we did not see Covid-19 coming, our leadership team has seen decades of ups and downs — working at the Pentagon in the aftermath of September 11, running Sony Music during the North Korea hack, helping run Goldman Sachs Asia during SARS and numerous other first-hand experiences. We’ve learned some key lessons along the way, and we rely on our experiences and long-term perspective during these tumultuous and uncertain times. One lesson I learned, while working at the Pentagon in 2001 was that leaders don’t have all the answers right away. It’s careful — but quick — research and planning combined with flexibility to act in new ways that can make a huge difference. …
